Red meadow grasses and still water at Lake Virginia at dusk in the John Muir Wilderness.

Virginia in July

Lake Virginia, John Muir Wilderness, California

The meadows around Lake Virginia turn genuinely red in July, dusk light on wine-colored grass. This is a bracketed blend at 35mm to hold both the glowing meadow and the darkening sky, made about 7:30 in the evening at the softest camp of the trip. Silver Pass in the morning, Bart's last day with us in the middle, and this at the end of it.
