Moon Over Sunrise

Cinder Cone, Lassen Volcanic National Park, California

Entirely unplanned. We were already walking back down when the moon came up over Sunrise Peak, and I have never unpacked a tripod that fast — a full moon climbs a ridgeline quicker than feels reasonable, and every second of fumbling costs you the alignment. A single exposure: the twilight was still bright enough to hold the land and the moon in one frame.
