Full moon beside alpenglow on Lassen Peak, reflected in the still water of Manzanita Lake, Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Twilight Ghost

Manzanita Lake, Lassen Volcanic National Park, California

Four or five hours at this lake, shooting from golden hour through to full dark. The last hour was the hard part — cold, both of us ready to leave, waiting on the moon to clear Lassen Peak. The real obstacle was ducks. The lake was full of them, and a reflection like this needs a stretch of genuinely undisturbed water. Blended from two frames taken minutes apart.
