Badwater Basin, Death Valley National Park, California
One of my favourites, and the only frame here that isn't natural light. The camera went as low on the tripod as it would go — salt has no shape at all from standing height. Then a flash off the camera entirely, held out to one side, so the light rakes across the crust instead of flattening it. Blue hour gave me the sky; the flash gave the ground its edges.
