I came to Schulman Grove for an astro shot with this tree, and the weather had other plans — cloud rolled over the White Mountains and the stars never showed. So it became a blue-hour frame instead, with the yellow bloom at the base for a bit of colour against all that dead wood. I'm glad it went this way. It's the one bristlecone photo I have that doesn't look like everyone else's.
