Snowmelt surging over granite on the Merced River below Nevada Fall in March, Yosemite National Park.

March Melt

Nevada Fall, Yosemite National Park, California

March, and the Merced was carrying everything the snowpack could give it. Getting down to this stretch below Nevada Fall was the awkward part — the trail is not built for stopping where I wanted to stop. Worth it, though. At full melt the river does things it does not do for the rest of the year, and there is no substitute for standing level with it.
