Merced River, Yosemite National Park, California

Ninety-six millimetres, because he was a long way off and I wanted that distance compressed rather than described — anything wider and he would have been a speck in a lot of empty river. He is hard to find at first, which is deliberate. Once you have him the frame reorganises around him, and he becomes the only reliable indication of how big any of this is.
